How do you set the timing on a 1991 Mazda Rx7?

To set the timing on a 1991 Mazda RX-7, you will need the following tools:

-Timing light

-Wrench set

-Socket set

-Feeler gauge

-Screwdriver

1. Park the car in a safe location and turn off the engine.

2. Open the hood and locate the timing belt cover. It is located on the front of the engine, near the top.

3. Remove the timing belt cover by removing the bolts that hold it in place.

4. Locate the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft. The camshaft timing mark is a small notch on the camshaft gear, and the crankshaft timing mark is a small notch on the crankshaft pulley.

5. Align the timing marks by turning the crankshaft pulley. You can do this by using a wrench or a socket set.

6. Once the timing marks are aligned, tighten the bolts that hold the camshaft gear in place.

7. Replace the timing belt cover and tighten the bolts that hold it in place.

8. Start the engine and check the timing with a timing light. The timing should be set to 10 degrees before top dead center (BTDC).

9. If the timing is not correct, adjust it by turning the distributor. The distributor is located on the side of the engine, near the top.

10. Once the timing is correct, tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.

11. Replace the distributor cap and wires.

12. Close the hood and you are finished.
