1. Park your car on level ground and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down for a few minutes.
2. Locate the oil filler cap. On the 1987 Nissan Maxima, the oil filler cap is located on the valve cover. It is usually a black or silver cap with the word "OIL" stamped on it.
3. Remove the oil filler cap. Be careful not to drop it into the engine.
4. Insert the funnel into the oil filler hole.
5. Add new engine oil to the engine. The amount of oil you need to add will depend on how low your oil level is. If you are not sure how much oil to add, add oil slowly and check the oil level frequently.
6. Replace the oil filler cap.
7. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
8. Check the oil level again. If the oil level is still low, add more oil.
