1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Turn the ignition to the "ON" position for 2 seconds, then turn it off.
- Repeat this procedure 3 times.
- This will relieve the fuel pressure in the system and make it safe to work on the fuel pump.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- This will prevent any electrical shocks from occurring while you are working on the fuel pump.
3. Locate the fuel pump.
- The fuel pump is located under the rear seat on the passenger side of the vehicle.
4. Remove the fuel pump cover.
- There are 4 bolts that hold the fuel pump cover in place.
- Remove these bolts and take off the cover.
5. Disconnect the fuel lines.
- There are 2 fuel lines that connect to the fuel pump.
- Use a wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the fuel lines in place and then disconnect the lines.
6. Remove the fuel pump.
- There are 6 bolts that hold the fuel pump in place.
- Remove these bolts and take out the fuel pump.
7. Install the new fuel pump.
- Insert the new fuel pump into the tank and secure it with the 6 bolts.
8. Reconnect the fuel lines.
- Reattach the 2 fuel lines to the fuel pump and tighten the nuts.
9. Replace the fuel pump cover.
- Put the fuel pump cover back on and secure it with the 4 bolts.
10. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
- Reattach the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
11. Start the engine.
- Turn the ignition to the "ON" position and start the engine.
- Let the engine run for a few minutes to check for any leaks.
12. Test drive the vehicle.
- Take the vehicle for a test drive to make sure that the fuel pump is working properly.
