How do you replace the lower radiator hose in a 91 Honda Accord?

Tools and Materials:

- Replacement lower radiator hose

- Drain pan

- 5/16-inch socket

- Socket wrench

- Pliers

- Screwdriver

- Funnel

- Coolant (50/50 mix of antifreeze and water)

Procedure:

Step 1: Preparation

- Park the car on a level surface and allow the engine to cool down completely.

- Engage the parking brake and turn off the engine.

- Open the hood and locate the lower radiator hose.

Step 2: Drain the Coolant

Note: This step can be skipped if the radiator is already drained.

- Place a drain pan under the radiator drain cock, which is usually located at the bottom of the radiator.

- Open the drain cock by turning it counterclockwise.

- Allow the coolant to drain completely.

Step 3: Remove the Old Radiator Hose

- Use a 5/16-inch socket and socket wrench to loosen the hose clamps that secure the lower radiator hose.

- Slide the hose clamps off the hose.

- Grip the old radiator hose with pliers and gently twist and pull it off the radiator and engine outlet.

Step 4: Inspect the Hose and Install the New One

- Inspect the old radiator hose for any cracks, bulges, or leaks. If any damage is found, replace the hose.

- Slide one of the new hose clamps over the end of the hose. Insert the hose onto the radiator and engine outlet.

- Place the hose clamp on the other end of the hose and slide the hose clamps into position so that they are about 1/2 inch from the ends of the hose. Then, tighten the hose clamps.

Step 5: Refill the Coolant

- Use a funnel to slowly add coolant to the radiator.

- Fill the radiator until the coolant level reaches the "Full" mark on the overflow tank or radiator.

- Replace the radiator cap and start the engine.

- Let the engine run for a few minutes to circulate the coolant.

- Check the coolant level again and add more coolant if necessary.

Step 6: Test for Leaks

- Look around the lower radiator hose area for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the hose clamps more securely.

- Turn off the engine and let it cool down completely.

- Check the coolant level again one more time to ensure it is still at the proper level.

Step 7: Clean Up

- Clean up cualquier refrigerante derramado.

- Properly dispose of the old lower radiator hose and coolant.
