How do you change the starter on a 94 Mitsubishi 3000gt?

Tools

* Ratchet set with 10mm, 12mm(deep well) and 14mm sockets

* 12mm Box-end wrench

* Long extension

* Breaker bar

* Flathead screwdriver

* Jack and jack stands(Or Ramps)

Instructions

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.

2. Engage the parking brake.

3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal to ensure safety of electrical components and prevent accidental damage.

4. Crawl underneath the vehicle and locate the starter motor. It's usually located near the bottom of the engine, on the driver's side.

5. Remove the starter mounting bolts. Use your 12mm box end wrench to loosen the nuts on the top and bottom of the starter. Be sure you have a deep well socket on the bottom bolt or it may be difficult to reach. You may also need to use the breaker bar if they're tight.

6. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the starter motor. There are usually two or three electrical connectors that need to be disconnected. Press on the release tabs and pull them straight off the starter.

7. Remove the old starter motor from the vehicle. Wiggle it slightly until you can remove it from the engine compartment.

8. Install the new starter motor. Insert the new starter motor into the opening and align the mounting holes with the holes in the engine block.

9. Reattach the electrical wiring harness to the starter motor. Replace the connectors you removed earlier. Make sure they click into place securely.

10. Reinstall the starter mounting bolts. Hand-tighten the bolts and then use your 12mm box end wrench to tighten them.

11. Reconnect the battery negative terminal.

12. Lower the vehicle.

Enjoy your newly-repaired vehicle and the satisfaction of a job well done!
