The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.
Below is the process of removing the fuel pump:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel cap and pressing down on the fuel pressure schrader valve located on the fuel injection system.
3. Raise and support the vehicle with jack stands.
4. Locate the fuel pump access cover in the floor of the vehicle. It is located under the rear seat and is held in place by four screws.
5. Remove the cover to expose the fuel pump.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector.
7. Loosen the fuel pump lock ring and remove the fuel pump.
*Note: The Mazda MPV does not have a separate fuel filter, the filter is part of the fuel pump assembly. When replacing the fuel pump, you must also replace the filter.*
