What type of antifreeze do you put in your 2000 F150 with the 4.2L V6 engine?

Ford's recommended antifreeze for the 2000 F-150 is a 50/50 mixture of ethylene glycol and water.

Antifreeze is required to keep the engine from freezing in cold temperatures and from overheating in hot temperatures. Adding the correct amount of Ford Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant Concentrate to de-ionized or distilled water will provide extended protection against engine freezing and cooling system corrosion. Any time fresh water or a coolant/water mixture is added to the cooling system, use the correct amount of concentrate to protect the engine and ensure proper freezing and corrosion protection. This engine coolant also contains a coolant conditioner that lubricates the water pump and improves resistance to foaming and aeration.

Here are some tips for adding antifreeze to your 2000 F-150:

* Never add undiluted antifreeze directly to your engine. This can cause damage to the engine.

* Always mix antifreeze with water according to the manufacturer's instructions. The recommended mixture for the 2000 F-150 is a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water.

* Add the antifreeze/water mixture to the coolant reservoir. The coolant reservoir is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment.

* Check the coolant level regularly and add more antifreeze/water mixture as needed. The coolant level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the coolant reservoir.

NOTE: If you live in an area with extremely cold temperatures, you may want to consider using a 30/70 mixture of antifreeze and water. This will provide even better protection against freezing.

CAUTION: Antifreeze is poisonous. If you ingest antifreeze, seek medical attention immediately.
