How do you drain the oil on a 2002 ford explorer?

To drain the oil on a 2002 Ford Explorer, follow these steps:

Note: Always lift a Ford Explorer using a car jack and jack stands. Never use a brick, cinder block, or another unstable object.

1. Prepare your materials. You will need:

* New oil filter (check owner's manual for the correct size)

* New oil (check owner's manual for the correct type and amount)

* Oil drain pan

* Wrench

* Rags

* Funnel

* Gloves

* Safety glasses

2. Park the Explorer on level ground. Engage the parking brake.

3. Lift the front of the Explorer with a car jack and jack stands. Ensure that the vehicle is stable before getting underneath it.

4. Locate the oil drain plug. It is located on the bottom of the oil pan, near the front of the engine.

5. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.

6. Use a wrench to loosen the oil drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completamente into the pan.

7. Replace the oil drain plug. Tighten the plug until it is snug.

8. Lower the Explorer to the ground.

9. Open the hood and locate the oil filter.

10. Use a wrench to loosen the oil filter.

11. Remove the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.

12. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

13. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine. Tighten the filter until it is snug.

14. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add oil. Add the amount of oil specified in the owner's manual.

15. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.

16. Clean the area around the oil drain hole.

17. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

18. Check the oil level again. Ensure the oil level is correct.

19. Turn off the engine and lower the Explorer to the ground.

20. Dispose of the old oil and oil filter at a recycling facility.
