1. Open the hood of your Pathfinder and locate the engine. The 3.5 liter V6 engine is in the front of the vehicle and has a black plastic engine cover.
2. Remove the engine cover by unlatching it and lifting it off.
3. Once the engine cover is removed, you will see the top of the engine. The engine has two rows of cylinders, each with three cylinders.
4. The row of cylinders that is closest to the front of the vehicle is bank 1. The row of cylinders that is closest to the rear of the vehicle is bank 2.
5. Cylinder number 1 is located on the left side (driver's side) of bank 1. It is the cylinder that is closest to the front of the vehicle.
