- Disconnect the electrical connections to the pump by pushing on the locking tab in the middle of the connector and squeezing in on the connector and pulling apart.
- Twist counter-clockwise the locking ring.
- Remove pump and filter assembly.
- Remove filter (may require a special removal tool).
Inline:
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. This will prevent fuel from spraying or leaking when you remove the fuel line(s).
- Locate the fuel filter on your vehicle. It will be located between the fuel tank and the engine. The filter is usually near the right or left front tire, but this may vary by vehicle.
- Once you have located the fuel filter, remove the fuel lines that connect the filter to the fuel tank and engine. To remove the fuel lines, use a wrench or pliers to loosen the clamps that hold the lines in place. Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Once the fuel lines have been removed, remove the bolts that hold the fuel filter in place. You may have to use a screwdriver to remove the clamps.
- Once the fuel filter is removed, you can install the new filter by reversing the steps above.
- Ensure the fuel filter is correctly installed and all fuel lines are securely attached before reconnecting the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, you are finished.
