Why does your engine oil light keep flashing?

1. Low Oil Level: The most common reason for the oil light to flash is a low oil level. Check the oil level using the dipstick and add more oil if necessary.

2. Oil Pressure Sensor Failure: A faulty oil pressure sensor can also cause the oil light to flash. The sensor may be sending a false signal to the ECU, which is why the light is flashing.

3. Oil Pump Failure: If the oil pump fails, it will not be able to circulate oil throughout the engine. This will cause the oil pressure to drop and the oil light to flash.

4. Engine Bearing Failure: Engine bearing failure can also cause the oil light to flash. When a bearing fails, it can cause the oil pressure to drop and the light to flash.

5. Oil Filter Clogged: A clogged oil filter can restrict oil flow and cause the oil pressure to drop. This can cause the oil light to flash.

If the oil light is flashing, it is important to take action immediately. Check the oil level and add more oil if necessary. If the oil level is correct, you should have the vehicle towed to a mechanic to diagnose the problem. Driving with low oil pressure can cause serious engine damage.
