How do you change spark plugs on a 2006 Mazda miata?

Tools and materials needed:

- Spark plug socket wrench

- Spark plug gap tool

- New spark plugs (NGK IFR6J-11 are recommended)

- Anti-seize lubricant

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical accidents.

2. Remove the engine cover by unscrewing the two 10mm bolts that hold it in place.

3. Locate the spark plugs. On the Miata, they are located on the top of the engine, underneath the ignition coils.

4. Unscrew the ignition coils with a 10mm socket wrench. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the engine bay.

5. Use the spark plug socket wrench to loosen and remove the spark plugs.

6. Inspect the old spark plugs for signs of wear or damage.

7. Apply a small amount of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.

8. Screw in the new spark plugs by hand until they are snug.

9. Use the spark plug wrench to tighten the spark plugs. Do not overtighten the spark plugs, as this can damage the threads in the engine.

10. Reattach the ignition coils and reconnect the negative battery cable.

11. Start the Miata and check for proper engine operation.
