Below are the steps on how to perform a transmission oil change:
1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Locate the transmission oil drain plug. It is usually located on the bottom of the transmission pan.
3. Place the drain pan under the drain plug and loosen the plug with the wrench.
4. Allow the old transmission fluid to drain completely into the pan.
5. Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
6. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. It is usually located on the side of the transmission.
7. Remove the fill plug and insert the funnel.
8. Add the new transmission fluid slowly, checking the transmission fluid level as you go.
9. Add fluid until the level is between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
10. Replace the fill plug and tighten it securely.
11. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
12. Shift through all of the gears and then check the transmission fluid level again.
13. Add more fluid if necessary.
14. Test drive the vehicle to make sure the transmission is shifting properly.
