If air gets into the fuel lines, it can prevent the engine from getting the fuel it needs to start. This can happen if you run out of fuel or if there is a leak in the fuel system. To check for air in the fuel lines, loosen the bleed screw on the fuel injector pump and crank the engine over. If air comes out of the bleed screw, you need to bleed the air out of the fuel system.
Fuel Pressure
The fuel pump may not be providing enough pressure to the fuel injector pump. To check the fuel pressure, connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel injector pump and crank the engine over. The fuel pressure should be between 10 and 15 PSI. If the fuel pressure is too low, the fuel pump may need to be replaced.
Fuel Quality
The fuel may be contaminated with water or other impurities. This can prevent the engine from starting. To check the fuel quality, drain a small amount of fuel from the fuel tank and inspect it for water or other contaminants. If the fuel is contaminated, it will need to be replaced.
Fuel Injector Pump
The fuel injector pump may be damaged or malfunctioning. This can prevent the engine from getting the fuel it needs to start. To check the fuel injector pump, remove it from the engine and inspect it for damage. If the fuel injector pump is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
ECM
The ECM may not be sending the correct signals to the fuel injector pump. This can prevent the engine from getting the fuel it needs to start. To check the ECM, connect a diagnostic tool to the engine and check for any error codes. If there are any error codes, the ECM may need to be replaced.
