How do you change the alternator belt on a 1990 Geo Storm?

Tools Required:

- 10 mm socket

- Ratchet

- 14 mm socket

- Breaker bar

- 1/2 inch drive

- ½ inch box end wrench

- ½ inch drive ratchet

Instructions:

1. Loosen the Alternator Belt Tensioner Bolt using a 14 mm socket and breaker bar.

2. Remove the old alternator belt from the pulley.

3. Insert the new alternator belt into the pulley.

4. Rotate the alternator belt tensioner pulley using a 1/2 inch square drive ratchet until the tensioner bolt makes contact with the alternator bracket.

5. Tighten the Alternator Belt Tensioner bolt using a 14 mm socket and ratchet.

6. Start the engine and check the alternator belt tension. The belt should have about 1/2 inch of play between the pulleys. If the belt is too loose, tighten the tensioner bolt until the proper tension is achieved. If the belt is too tight, loosen the tensioner bolt until the proper tension is achieved.
