1. Gather the necessary tools and materials. You will need:
- A new serpentine belt
- A ratchet with a 15mm socket
- A pry bar or breaker bar
- A pair of pliers
- Safety glasses
2. Park your Windstar on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down.
3. Open the hood of your Windstar.
4. Locate the serpentine belt. It is the long, thin belt that wraps around the front of the engine and connects the crankshaft to various other components, such as the power steering pump, alternator, and air conditioning compressor.
5. Use the breaker bar to turn the tensioner pulley counterclockwise. This will release the tension on the serpentine belt.
6. Remove the old serpentine belt by slipping it off of the pulleys.
7. Install the new serpentine belt by routing it around the pulleys in the same way that the old belt was installed.
8. Use the pry bar or breaker bar to turn the tensioner pulley clockwise until the serpentine belt is tight.
9. Use the pliers to insert the tensioner locking tab into the hole on the tensioner pulley. This will prevent the tensioner pulley from moving and will keep the serpentine belt in place.
10. Close the hood of your Windstar and start the engine.
