1. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool.
2. Disable the ignition to ensure that the engine will not start while you are working.
3. Remove the jerk pump cover.
4. Disconnect fuel connector (if possible) and use a rag or plug the injection pump port to avoid potential fuel leaks.
5. Rotate the injection pump by hand to get an accurate reading.
6. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise until the piston in the injection pump cylinder reaches the top of its stroke.
7. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the pump timing mark is aligned with the indicator on the pump body.
8. Adjust the pump timing by loosening the mounting bolts and rotating the pump until it is aligned with the timing marks.
9. Tighten the pump mounting bolts.
10. Reconnect the fuel line.
11. Start the engine and check for proper operation.
