What are the parts attached to cylinder block?

Cylinder head

The cylinder head is located at the top of the cylinder block and forms the combustion chamber. It contains the valves, which control the flow of air and fuel into and out of the cylinder, and the spark plug, which ignites the fuel.

Pistons

The pistons are located inside the cylinders and move up and down to compress the air and fuel mixture and then to create power.

Connecting rods

The connecting rods connect the pistons to the crankshaft.

Crankshaft

The crankshaft is located at the bottom of the engine and converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotary motion.

Oil pan

The oil pan is located at the bottom of the engine and stores the engine oil.

Water pump

The water pump circulates coolant through the engine to keep it cool.

Fuel injector

The fuel injector sprays fuel into the cylinder.

Distributor

The distributor (in older vehicles) or ignition coil (in newer vehicles) distributes electrical current to the spark plugs.

Starter

The starter motor cranks the engine to start it.

Alternator

The alternator generates electricity to power the vehicle's electrical systems.
