2. Locate the rotor. Ensure it is seated properly and is not cracked or damaged.
3. Align the rotor with the number one spark plug wire terminal on the distributor cap.
4. Turn the engine crankshaft until the timing mark on the harmonic balancer aligns with the “0” mark on the timing tab.
5. Make sure that the rotor is pointing exactly at the number one terminal tower on the distributor cap or the ignition timing will be off by 90 degrees.
6. Install the distributor cap and secure it with the hold-down clamp.
