Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Park your Mercedes-Benz C180 on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down if necessary.
2. Open the hood and locate the clutch fluid reservoir. It is typically labeled with a symbol indicating brake or clutch fluid.
3. Check the fluid level in the reservoir. If it is low, top it up with DOT 4 brake fluid to the recommended level.
4. Locate the clutch slave cylinder. It is usually mounted near the transmission and has a bleed screw.
5. Place a container underneath the bleed screw to collect the old fluid.
6. Attach one end of the transparent tubing to the bleed screw. Make sure it fits snugly to prevent air from entering.
7. Place the other end of the tubing into the container of old fluid.
8. Ask your helper to press down on the clutch pedal and hold it.
9. While the clutch pedal is depressed, loosen the bleed screw using a wrench or socket. This will allow air and fluid to escape through the tubing and into the container.
10. Keep an eye on the fluid level in the reservoir and ensure it does not drop too low. If necessary, add more DOT 4 brake fluid to maintain the appropriate level.
11. Continue to depress the clutch pedal and keep the bleed screw open until you see no more air bubbles coming out of the tubing.
12. Once there are no more air bubbles, tighten the bleed screw and remove the tubing.
13. Test the clutch pedal by pressing and releasing it several times. It should feel firm and responsive.
14. Check the fluid level in the reservoir one more time and adjust it if necessary.
15. Close the hood and dispose of the old brake fluid properly.
