2. Faulty EGR System:
- The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system helps reduce emissions by recirculating a portion of the exhaust gases back into the intake. A malfunctioning EGR valve or clogged EGR passages can cause black smoke and poor engine performance.
3. Worn-out Piston Rings:
- Worn or damaged piston rings can allow oil to seep into the combustion chamber. When this happens, the oil burns along with the fuel, resulting in black smoke and a loss of engine compression.
4. Turbocharger Issues:
- If your 360 has a turbocharger, a failing turbocharger or issues with the charge air cooler could cause black smoke.
5. Injector Problems:
-Faulty injectors can cause the engine to run too rich, leading to black smoke and the emission of unburned fuel droplets that get sprayed out when the engine is revved.
6. Leaking Head Gasket:
- A blown head gasket can allow coolant to enter the combustion chamber. When this happens, the coolant burns off, producing steam that can be mistaken for liquid coming out of the exhaust.
