1. Gather your tools. You will need an OBD-II scanner, a code reader, or an app that can scan your truck's diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
2. Connect the scanner or code reader to your truck's diagnostic port. The diagnostic port is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
