1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
2. Press and hold the accelerator pedal down for approximately 10 seconds.
3. While still holding the accelerator pedal down, turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
4. Release the accelerator pedal.
5. Wait 10 seconds.
6. Start the engine.
The check engine light should now be reset.
If the check engine light does not reset, you may need to have the vehicle scanned for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). DTCs are stored in the vehicle's computer and can provide information about the cause of the check engine light.
You can have the vehicle scanned for DTCs at a dealership or auto repair shop.
