1. Park the vehicle on level ground and engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the transmission dipstick. It is usually marked with the word "Transmission." On the 93 Ford Ranger, it is usually located in the engine bay, near the back of the engine.
3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
4. Reinsert the dipstick all the way into the transmission.
5. Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level.
6. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
If the fluid level is low, add enough fluid to bring it up to the "FULL" mark. Use only the type of transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
7. Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level again.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until the fluid level remains consistent.
