Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid any electrical accidents.
2. Locate the EGR valve. On the 2001 Ford Focus with DOHC engine, it is usually mounted on the intake manifold.
3. Remove the bolts or screws that hold the EGR valve in place. There may be two or three bolts, depending on the model.
4. Gently pry the EGR valve off the intake manifold using the flat-head screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the gasket.
5. Clean the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and the EGR valve to remove any old gasket material or debris.
6. Place the new gasket onto the intake manifold.
7. Replace the EGR valve onto the intake manifold, aligning the holes with the bolts.
8. Replace the bolts or screws and tighten them securely.
9. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
10. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the EGR valve.
11. If there are no leaks, the installation is complete.
