1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, turn off the engine, and allow it to cool down. This will help prevent transmission fluid from overflowing or coming into contact with hot components.
2. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. For the 2007 Dodge Caliber, it is usually found on the side of the transmission housing, near the top. Consult your owner's manual for the exact location.
3. Remove the transmission fluid fill plug. Use a wrench or socket to loosen and remove the fill plug.
4. Insert a funnel into the transmission fluid fill hole. Use a clean funnel to avoid introducing dirt or debris into the transmission system.
5. Add transmission fluid slowly. Use the recommended type of transmission fluid and pour it gradually into the transmission fluid fill hole until the fluid level reaches the "full" mark on the transmission fluid dipstick.
6. Reinstall the transmission fluid fill plug and dipstick. Once the fluid level has been reached, securely tighten the transmission fluid fill plug and dipstick, and insert it back into its housing.
7. Check the transmission fluid level again using the transmission fluid dipstick. Make sure the fluid level is between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick to ensure proper operation.
