Here are the steps on how to change the power steering hose on a GMC Sierra 3500 Duramax.

Tools and Materials Needed

- New power steering hose

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Pliers

- Penetrating oil

- Catch pan

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the vehicle.

- Park your GMC Sierra 3500 Duramax on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.

Step 2: Locate the old power steering hose.

- The power steering hose is typically located on the front passenger side of the engine bay. It is a thick, black hose that runs from the power steering reservoir to the steering gear.

Step 3: Remove the old power steering hose

- Follow these steps to remove the power steering hose:

- Loosen the hose clamps at both ends of the old power steering hose using a wrench.

- Slide the hose clamps off the hose.

- Pull the old hose off the fittings at both ends.

- Allow any residual power steering fluid to drain into a catch pan.

Step 4: Install the new power steering hose

- Follow these steps to install the new power steering hose:

- Slide the new hose clamps onto the new hose.

- Attach one end of the new power steering hose to the fitting on the power steering reservoir and tighten the hose clamp.

- Attach the other end of the new hose to the fitting on the steering gear and tighten the hose clamp.

Step 5: Refill the power steering fluid reservoir

- With the new hose installed, slowly add power steering fluid to the reservoir until it reaches the "Full" mark.

- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new fluid.

- Check the power steering fluid level again and add more if necessary.

Step 6: Test the power steering

- Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and right a few times to check for any leaks or binding in the steering.

- If there are no leaks or binding, then the power steering hose has been successfully replaced.

Tips:

- When removing or installing the hose, be careful not to damage the fittings.

- You may need to use penetrating oil to loosen the hose clamps if they are rusted or stuck.

- Make sure that the new power steering hose is the correct size and length for your specific vehicle.
