1. Replacement fuel filter (Ford part number: 2L3Z-9155-AA)
2. Fuel filter wrench or adjustable wrench
3. Phillips head screwdriver
4. New fuel line clamps (optional, but recommended)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down completely before beginning work.
2. Locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter on the 2003 3-liter Ford Ranger is located under the vehicle, near the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with two fuel lines connected to it.
3. Relieve fuel system pressure. To do this, open the hood and locate the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Press down on the valve with a small screwdriver or similar tool to release the pressure. (wear safety goggles).
4. Disconnect the fuel lines. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the fuel line clamps that secure the fuel lines to the fuel filter. Be careful not to spill any fuel while disconnecting the lines.
5. Remove the old fuel filter. Once the fuel lines are disconnected, you can remove the old fuel filter by turning it counterclockwise with a filter wrench or adjustable wrench.
6. Install the new fuel filter. Screw the new fuel filter into place by hand until it is snug. Then, tighten it an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn using a filter wrench or adjustable wrench.
7. Reconnect the fuel lines. Secure the fuel lines to the fuel filter with new fuel line clamps. Tighten the clamps until they are snug.
8. Start the engine and check for leaks. Once the fuel lines are reconnected, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the fuel filter and fuel lines. If you find any leaks, tighten the connections until they stop leaking.
Additional Tips:
- When disconnecting the fuel lines, place a rag underneath to catch any spilled fuel.
- If the fuel lines are rusted or damaged, replace them with new ones.
- When installing the new fuel filter, make sure that the arrow on the filter is pointing in the direction of fuel flow.
- Tighten the fuel line clamps securely, but do not overtighten them as it may damage the lines.
