Tools and materials needed:
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Torx wrench set
- Socket wrench set
- Replacement bumper (if necessary)
Step 1: Open the Hood:
- Open the hood of the Sprinter to access the bolts that hold the bumper in place.
Step 2: Remove the Wheel Well Liners:
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the wheel well liners in place.
- Gently pull the wheel well liners away from the bumper to expose the bumper mounting bolts.
Step 3: Remove the Bumper Cover Screws:
- Locate the screws along the top edge of the bumper cover near the headlights.
- Use a Torx wrench to remove these screws.
Step 4: Remove the Bumper Bolts:
- Use the socket wrench to loosen the bolts that secure the bumper to the vehicle frame.
- There are typically two bolts on each side of the bumper.
Step 5: Detach the Bumper from the Headlights:
- Gently pull the bumper away from the vehicle until you can see the clips that attach the bumper to the headlights.
- Press down on the clips with a flat-head screwdriver to release them.
Step 6: Disconnect the Wiring:
- Disconnect any wiring harnesses or sensors that may be attached to the bumper.
Step 7: Remove the Bumper:
- Once all the bolts are removed and wiring is disconnected, lift the bumper straight up and off the vehicle.
Step 8: Replace the Bumper Cover (Optional):
- If necessary, replace the bumper cover by lining it up with the mounting points and securing it with the screws and bolts you removed earlier.
Step 9: Reattach the Wheel Well Liners:
- Replace the wheel well liners by pushing them back into place and securing them with the screws you removed earlier.
Step 10: Test the Bumper:
- Gently push and pull on the bumper to ensure that it is securely mounted.
Closing the Hood: Close the hood of the Sprinter once you have finished removing or replacing the bumper.
