1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Open the fuel filler door and unscrew the fuel cap.
3. Locate the fuel tank drain plug on the bottom of the tank. It is usually a 17mm bolt.
4. Place a drain pan under the drain plug and loosen it with a wrench. Allow all of the fuel to drain out of the tank.
5. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent any sparks or electrical accidents.
6. Locate the fuel tank straps that hold the tank in place. There are usually two straps, one on each side of the tank.
7. Loosen the bolts that hold the straps in place and remove the straps from the tank.
8. Support the fuel tank with a jack or jack stands to prevent it from falling.
9. Disconnect the fuel lines that are connected to the tank. There are usually two fuel lines, one for the supply and one for the return.
10. Disconnect the electrical connector that is connected to the fuel tank.
11. Lower the fuel tank and remove it from the vehicle.
When you are finished removing the fuel tank, be sure to properly dispose of the old fuel.
