How can you tell which transmission have in your 1992 Crown Victoria V8?

The 1992 Crown Victoria V8 came standard with a four-speed automatic transmission (AOD). A five-speed manual transmission was optional. To tell which transmission is installed, open the engine compartment with the engine off.

4-Speed Automatic (AOD) Transmission

On the AOD transmission, two vent tubes at the top, next to the driver's side valve cover.

5-Speed Manual Transmission

The manual transmission has no external vent tubes and a clutch slave cylinder is fitted to the underside of the bell housing next to the starter motor.
