2. Open the hood of your car.
3. Locate the transmission. It is the large, metallic housing located near the front of the engine.
4. Follow the speedometer cable from the transmission to the instrument cluster. The speedometer cable is a thin, metallic cable that is connected to the transmission on one end and to the instrument cluster on the other end.
5. Once you have located the speedometer cable, you can disconnect it from the transmission by unscrewing the nut that holds it in place.
6. Remove the speedometer cable from the car.
