How do you get the fuel pump out of tank on a 1996 GMC Sierra?

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. This can be done by disconnecting the fuel line from the fuel injector rail and then turning the key to the "ON" position for a few seconds.

2. Drop the fuel tank. To do this, you will need to loosen the bolts that hold it in place. You may need to use a jack and a jack stand to support the tank while you work.

3. Remove the fuel pump assembly. The fuel pump assembly is located inside the fuel tank. It is held in place by a lock ring. To remove it, you will need to use a special tool to remove the lock ring.

4. Remove the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located at the bottom of the fuel pump assembly. It is connected to the fuel tank by a hose. To remove it, you will need to disconnect the hose and then unscrew the fuel pump.

5. Install the new fuel pump. To do this, you will need to reverse the steps that you took to remove the old fuel pump.

6. Test the fuel pump. To do this, you will need to turn the key to the "ON" position for a few seconds. You should hear the fuel pump running.
