- New Starter

- Starter Bolts

- Wrench Set

- Socket Set

- 1/2-inch Ratchet

- 3/8-inch Ratchet

- Flat Head Screwdriver

- Safety Goggles

Procedure:

1. Prepare the Vehicle:

- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

- Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.

- Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shock.

2. Locate the Starter:

- The starter is usually located on the passenger side of the engine, near the transmission bell housing.

- It's a cylindrical-shaped component with wires attached to it.

3. Disconnect the Electrical Connections:

- Follow the positive cables from the battery until they reach the starter solenoid.

- Use the 10mm and 13 mm wrenches to loosen the nuts and remove the positive and small gauge wires from the solenoid.

4. Disconnect Transmission Wires:

- Remove the 10mm bolts securing the wire harness bracket. Gently pry it off the transmission bell housing.

- Disconnect the transmission-related electrical connectors (neutral safety switch).

- These are located along the back of the transmission. Push down the release tabs and unplug them.

5. Remove Starter Bolts and Starter:

- There are usually two bolts (17mm) holding the starter in place. Use the appropriate size wrench to loosen and remove the bolts.

- Once the bolts are removed, gently pry the starter from its housing using a flat-head screwdriver.

6. Install New Starter:

- Position the new starter in its place. Make sure the teeth on the starter's gear mesh with the flywheel.

- Insert the bolts removed earlier and hand-tighten them.

- Use the 3/8-inch ratchet and appropriate socket to securely tighten the bolts.

7. Reconnect Electrical Connections:

- Attach the positive and small gauge cables to the solenoid and tighten the nuts.

- Reconnect the transmission-related electrical connectors and reinstall the wire harness bracket.

8. Reconnect Battery:

- Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

9. Test Starter:

- Turn the ignition key to the "Start" position.

- The engine should crank and start.

10. Test and Enjoy:

- Test drive the vehicle to make sure the starter is functioning properly.

Note:

- If the starter does not engage or crank the engine, check the electrical connections, starter solenoid, and battery for proper functionality.

- Some vehicles may have variations in starter configurations and require different tools or procedures. Refer to your vehicle's repair manual for specific details.

- Always prioritize safety when working on your vehicle. If you're uncomfortable with any of the steps, consider seeking assistance from a qualified mechanic.
