The oil filler plug is usually located on the top of the gearbox. It may be marked with a "gearbox oil" or "transmission fluid" symbol.
Step 2: Clean the oil filler plug and area around it.
This will help prevent dirt from getting into the gearbox when you add oil.
Step 3: Remove the oil filler plug.
Use a wrench or socket to loosen the oil filler plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the gearbox.
Step 4: Measure the amount of oil you need to add to the gearbox.
Refer to your owner's manual to find out the recommended oil level for your gearbox.
Step 5: Add the oil to the gearbox.
Use a funnel to add oil through the oil filler hole until the oil level is approximately 1/2 inch below the bottom of the hole.
Step 6: Replace the oil filler plug.
Screw the oil filler plug back into the gearbox. Tighten the plug until it is snug.
Step 7: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
This will circulate the oil and help you check for leaks.
Step 8: Check the oil level again.
Add more oil if necessary to bring the level to approximately 1/2 inch below the bottom of the hole.
