How do you change oil for case 1840 skid steer?

Case 1840 Skid Steer Oil Change Procedure

1. Park your skid steer on level ground and turn it off.

* Set parking brake.

2. Locate oil drain plug.

* Underneath machine near bottom rear of engine and below oil filter.

3. Place oil drain pan under oil drain plug.

* Ensure drain pan is large enough to hold the amount of oil in your skid steer’s engine (consult owner’s manual).

4. Loosen the oil drain plug.

* Use a wrench to turn the oil drain plug counterclockwise until it is loose. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.

5. Allow the oil to drain into the pan.

* Wait until all of the oil has drained out.

6. Replace the oil drain plug.

* Once the oil has drained out, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.

7. Locate the oil filter.

* On top of engine near front of machine.

8. Remove the oil filter.

* Use an oil filter wrench to turn the oil filter counterclockwise until it is loose. Be careful not to spill any oil.

9. Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

* This will help create a seal and prevent leaks.

10. Screw the new oil filter into place.

* Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug, then tighten it an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn with the oil filter wrench.

11. Fill the machine’s engine with the proper amount of new engine oil using a funnel.

* Amount varies by model so refer to operator's manual

12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

* This will circulate the new engine oil throughout the system.

13. Recheck the oil level using dipstick.

* Adjust as needed.

14. Dispose of the old oil and filter properly.

Remember to save receipts and keep this information in a safe place for future reference.
