1. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel of the side you are working on. Jack up the car and safely secure it using jack stands (DO NOT rely on the vehicle jack alone). Now remove the wheel completely.
2. Locate the inner tie-rod end connection to the rack housing. It's on the backside behind the brake and strut.
3. Clean/spray penetrating oil/lubricant around the outer section (around the threads) where the tierod end screws onto the gear/rack mechanism
4. Using two wrenches, break loose (by slightly turning the locknut counterclockwise with one wrench. Hold the tierod itself so it won't twist/turn from the other direction with the other wrench.
5. Once that outer locknut loosened (turn it all the way off the tierod end now) screw the tierod from the rack. If your tie-rod end does not spin off easily you can use tie-rod end removal tool such as an open-ended or "C"-Spanner wrench that fits over the tierod balljoint area to apply even force, breaking it loose from the rack splines on the rack housing itself.
