1. Prepare the wiring kit. Unpack the wiring kit and identify the different components. You should have the following:
- A 7-pin towing socket
- A relay
- A fuse
- A length of cable
- A set of connectors
2. Mount the towing socket. The towing socket should be mounted on the rear panel of the car, in a central position. There are usually two pre-drilled holes that can be used to secure the socket. Use the screws provided to secure the socket in place.
3. Connect the wiring to the towing socket. The wiring from the towing socket should be connected to the corresponding terminals on the towing socket. Use the connectors provided to make the connections.
4. Mount the relay. The relay should be mounted in a convenient location in the engine bay. Use the screws provided to secure the relay in place.
5. Connect the wiring to the relay. The wiring from the relay should be connected to the corresponding terminals on the relay. Use the connectors provided to make the connections.
6. Connect the fuse. The fuse should be connected to the positive terminal of the battery. Use a fuse holder to connect the fuse.
7. Test the towbar. Once the towbar is wired, test it by plugging in a trailer and checking that the lights on the trailer work correctly.
