Tools Needed

* Set of Torx keys

* A 17mm spanner

* A large flat-head screwdriver

* A small flat-head screwdriver

Instructions

1. Park your car on a flat surface and apply the handbrake.

2. Turn the ignition off.

Remove the engine cover.

4. Locate the cam belt tensioner, it is located at the front of the engine, just below the cam belt cover.

5. Use a Torx key to loosen the tensioner pulley bolt, turn the bolt counterclockwise until the tensioner spring relaxes.

6. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the cam belt off the tensioner pulley.

7. Remove the tensioner spring and the tensioner pulley.

8. Clean the tensioner pulley and the spring with a wire brush.

9. Inspect the tensioner pulley for wear or damage. If the pulley is damaged, replace it.

10. Install the new tensioner pulley and spring.

11. Use a Torx key to tighten the tensioner pulley bolt, turn the bolt clockwise until the tensioner spring is taut.

12. Use the large flat-head screwdriver to pry the cam belt back on the tensioner pulley.

13. Replace the engine cover.
