* A timing light
* A wrench
* A screwdriver
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Locate the timing marks on the engine. The timing marks are located on the front of the engine, near the distributor. The crankshaft timing mark is a small notch on the crankshaft pulley, and the camshaft timing mark is a small dot on the camshaft sprocket.
3. Connect the timing light to the negative terminal of the battery and to the number one spark plug wire.
4. Start the engine and let it idle.
5. Point the timing light at the timing marks. The timing light will flash when the number one cylinder is firing.
6. Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt and turn the distributor until the timing marks are aligned.
7. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
8. Disconnect the timing light and reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Your engine is now timed correctly.
