Why is the Ferrari symbol a horse?

Enzo Ferrari, the founder of Ferrari, was inspired by a prancing horse on the fuselage of a fighter plane flown by Italian pilot Francesco Baracca during World War I. Baracca was a national hero in Italy, and his family crest featured a prancing horse. Enzo Ferrari was reportedly so impressed by the symbol that he decided to incorporate it into the logo of his automotive company.
