Why would a 4x4 go into 4hi-4lo but when you start moving and give it little gas the tires spin?

Causes:

* Lack of traction: If you're on a surface with low traction, such as snow or ice, the tires may not have enough grip to move forward.

* Too much torque: If you give the engine too much gas, it can produce more torque than the tires can handle, causing them to spin.

* Low tire pressure: If your tire pressure is too low, the tires may not have enough contact with the ground to provide traction.

* Transmission issues: If there is a problem with your vehicle's transmission it can cause the wheels to spin.

* Differential problems: If your car's differential is not working properly, the wheels may not receive power evenly. This can cause one or more of them to spin.

Here are some things you can try:

* Engage 4-low in a parking lot or on a driveway, without moving. Engage 4-high at low speed and shift to 4-low before coming to a stop for rougher terrain or slick surfaces.

* Shift into a lower gear. This will reduce the amount of torque going to the wheels and help them regain traction.

* Apply the gas pedal slowly and gradually. This will help the tires to grip the road and prevent them from spinning.

* Check your tire pressure and ensure that it is at the recommended level.

* Check the vehicle fluid levels to make sure they are correct

* Get the vehicle checked out by a qualified mechanic.
