* Spark plug socket wrench
* 5/8-inch socket
* Spark plug gap tool
* New spark plugs (4)
Instructions
1. Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to prevent any accidental electrical shocks.
2. Remove the air cleaner cover. This is located on the top of the engine, near the front of the car.
3. Remove the spark plug wires. There are four spark plug wires, each of which is connected to a spark plug. To remove a spark plug wire, simply pull it off of the spark plug.
4. Use the spark plug socket wrench to loosen the spark plugs. Be careful not to drop the spark plugs into the engine.
5. Remove the old spark plugs. Once the spark plugs are loose, you can use your fingers to remove them.
6. Check the gap on the new spark plugs. The gap should be between 0.043 and 0.047 inches. If the gap is too large or too small, you can use a spark plug gap tool to adjust it.
7. Install the new spark plugs. Hand-tighten the spark plugs until they are snug. Then, use the spark plug socket wrench to tighten them an additional 1/4 turn.
8. Reinstall the spark plug wires.
9. Reconnect the battery.
10. Start the car and check for any leaks.
Tips
* Make sure you have the correct spark plugs for your car. The spark plugs must be the correct size, thread pitch, and heat range.
* Be careful not to drop the spark plugs into the engine. If a spark plug falls into the engine, you will need to remove the cylinder head to retrieve it.
* Be careful not to over-tighten the spark plugs. This can damage the spark plugs and the engine.
