1. Safety Precautions
- Ensure that the vehicle is in a safe and level location.
- Turn off the engine and turn the ignition key to the "off" position.
- Disconnect the battery's negative terminal.
2. Locate Fuel Pump Assembly
- Go under the rear seat of your vehicle.
- Remove the fuel pump access cover.
3. Disconnect Fuel Lines
- Disconnect the fuel lines connected to the fuel pump assembly.
- Make sure to relieve any fuel pressure by placing a rag over the fuel line and pressing down on the Schrader valve.
4. Disconnect Electrical Connector
- Unplug the electrical connector connected to the fuel pump.
5. Remove Fuel Pump Assembly
- Remove the bolts securing the fuel pump assembly.
- Carefully remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank.
6. Inspect and Replace
- Inspect the fuel pump assembly for damage, dirt, and wear.
- Replace the fuel pump and gasket if needed.
7. Reinstall Fuel Pump Assembly
- Insert the new or repaired fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank.
- Secure it with the bolts you removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Fuel Lines
- Reattach the fuel lines to the fuel pump assembly.
- Double-check to make sure they are securely connected.
9. Connect Electrical Connector
- Reconnect the electrical connector to the fuel pump.
10. Test Fuel Pump
- Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
- Listen for the fuel pump to run for a few seconds.
11. Start Vehicle and Reattach Negative Battery Cable
- If you hear the fuel pump running, start the vehicle.
- Reattach the negative battery terminal.
12. Replace Access Cover
- Put back the fuel pump access cover under the rear seat.
