1. Open the bonnet (hood) of the car and locate the heater matrix. It is located behind the dashboard, on the passenger side of the engine bay.
2. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical damage from occurring while you are working.
3. Remove the trim panel from around the heater matrix. This can be done by gently prising it off with a flat-head screwdriver.
4. Remove the heater hoses. These are the two hoses that connect the heater matrix to the engine. Use a spanner to loosen the hose clamps and then pull the hoses off.
5. Remove the retaining bolts from the heater matrix. These are usually located on the sides of the matrix.
6. Carefully lift the heater matrix out of the car. Be careful not to damage the matrix or any of the surrounding components.
7. Once the heater matrix is removed, you can inspect it for damage. If it is damaged, you will need to replace it with a new one.
8. To reinstall the heater matrix, simply reverse the steps above.
9. Reconnect the battery and start the car. Check to make sure that the heater is working properly.
