Instructions:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake and allow the engine to cool down.
2. Locate the coolant drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. Place a drain pan under the drain plug and loosen the plug with a wrench. Drain the coolant from the radiator and engine block.
3. Once all the coolant has drained, close the drain plug.
4. Locate the block heater, which is usually a cylindrical device with two electrical connections. The block heater should be installed in the freeze plug hole on the side of the engine block. Usually located near the oil filter.
5. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the gasket of the block heater. Screw the block heater into the freeze plug hole until it is snug.
6. Reconnect the electrical connections to the block heater.
7. Reinstall the coolant drain plug and refill the cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water. You'll need to replace the amount that was drained earlier
8. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the coolant and ensure there are no leaks.
