1. Park the car on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow the engine to cool.
3. Locate the steering box. The steering box is usually located on the front of the engine and underneath the radiator.
4. Remove the filler plug from the steering box. The filler plug is usually located on the top of the steering box.
5. Drain the old steering box fluid into a drain pan.
6. Reinstall the filler plug.
7. Add new power steering or automatic transmission fluid to the steering box until the fluid level is between the “ADD” and “FULL” marks on the dipstick.
8. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel left and right several times to circulate the new fluid.
9. Check the steering box fluid level again and add fluid as needed.
