Sports Cars:
* Mazda Cosmo Sport (1967-1972): This was Mazda's first sports car and a pioneer in the use of the rotary engine. It was rear-wheel drive.
* Mazda RX-7 (1978-2002): A popular and iconic sports car, the RX-7 across all its generations was rear-wheel drive.
* Mazda RX-8 (2003-2012): This sports coupe was also rear-wheel drive.
* Mazda MX-5 Miata (1989-Present): A global roadster sensation, the Miata has been rear-wheel drive for its entire production run.
Other Models:
* Mazda Luce (1969-1981): This mid-size sedan, a predecessor to the Mazda 6, had a rear-wheel drive option.
* Mazda 929 (1979-1991): This executive sedan offered a rear-wheel drive variant.
* Mazda Eunos Cosmo (1990-1995): This luxurious sports coupe was rear-wheel drive.
* Mazda Autozam AZ-1 (1992-1994): This small, sporty kei car was rear-wheel drive.
Note:
* Mazda's primary focus has shifted to front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations since the 1990s. Most Mazda models today are not rear-wheel drive.
* Mazda has also experimented with a few limited-production, rear-wheel drive concepts and prototypes over the years, but these never went into full production.
It is also important to note that not all versions of these cars were rear-wheel drive. For example, the Mazda Luce and Mazda 929 were both available in both rear-wheel drive and front-wheel drive configurations.
