1. Park your car in a safe and well-lit area, and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood of your vehicle.
3. Locate the parking light assembly. It is usually situated in the front of your vehicle, near the headlight assembly.
4. Gently squeeze the sides of the parking light housing to release it from its socket.
5. Once the housing is loose, pull it towards you to remove it from the vehicle.
6. Inside the housing, you will see the old parking light bulb.
7. Gently turn the bulb counterclockwise to loosen and remove it from its socket.
8. Take the new parking light bulb and insert it into the socket, turning it clockwise until it is secure.
9. Reinsert the parking light assembly back into the vehicle, pressing gently until it snaps into place.
10. Close the hood of your vehicle.
11. Turn the parking lights on to make sure the new bulb is working correctly.
You should now successfully replace the parking light bulb on your 2001 Volvo S40 without removing the glass or using any special tools.
