Where is the cam postition sensor on a 97 ford ranger 2.3L?

On a 1997 Ford Ranger 2.3L engine, the camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor) is located on the passenger side (right side) of the engine, on the front of the cylinder head. It's usually near the distributor (if equipped) or very close to the front timing cover. It's a relatively small sensor, often with a single-wire connector.

You might need a flashlight and possibly some maneuvering to see it clearly. A repair manual or online diagrams specific to your year and engine will provide a visual aid to help you pinpoint its location precisely.
